Diario de Jerez presents Myukura: “Myulab will drive medical AI from Jerez to the whole of Spain”

The 25 September print edition of Diario de Jerez devoted a report by M. Valero to Myulab Innovation and its Myukura project: artificial intelligence to document medical consultations, with a line of work in supervised local AI.

The report, published on page 9 of the Friday 25 September edition under the headline “Myulab will drive medical AI from Jerez to the whole of Spain”, reviews what we are building, where we are doing it from and with what support.

For a company born in Jerez, seeing the project told by its own city’s newspaper has special value.

A startup based in Jerez

The text presents Myulab Innovation as a technology startup based in Jerez and Myukura as its main project: artificial intelligence to transcribe and document medical consultations and reduce the administrative burden on healthcare professionals, who keep review of the information generated at all times.

The subtitle sums up the approach: speech processors and supervised local artificial intelligence to free doctors from bureaucratic burden.

Cloud, local AI and human oversight

One of the points the piece highlights is the combination of cloud artificial intelligence with a line of development in local, on-device AI.

The idea is to explore which tasks can be processed directly close to the healthcare professional. Among the lines of work, the newspaper also mentions the development of a physical device able to run part of those processes locally, always under human supervision.

This is the line we are researching within Myukura Edge.

The following weeks

The report presents that period as an occasion to test the work in different innovation environments.

It covers the selection for the 8th MareNostrum Hackathon at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, where we would work with supercomputing infrastructure and with specialists linked to the BSC and NVIDIA; the selection as one of the seven companies in Andalusia’s ScaleUp 2026; and the later participation in Canarias Destino Startup 2026, after receiving a direct invitation from the organisers.

One detail is worth clarifying: according to the BSC itself, the MareNostrum Hackathon is a hands-on, non-competitive format, designed for teams to optimise their applications with the help of mentors.

Learning, testing and growing from Jerez

According to the newspaper, for the team these appearances are not only recognitions, but opportunities to learn, test the technology and establish collaborations.

Nicolás da Fonseca, co-founder of Myulab Innovation, sums up the intention in one sentence: “we want to keep growing from Jerez”.

The company is especially interested to see new technology projects able to be born and grow from Jerez and the province of Cádiz, connected with research, knowledge and innovation networks in other parts of Spain and Europe.

The support, in context

The article recalls that Myulab Innovation holds ENISA’s certification as an emerging company, is part of NVIDIA Inception and receives support through Google for Startups and Microsoft for Startups.

These are programmes that give access to infrastructure, tools, knowledge and resources with which to continue developing Myukura. They are not equivalent to clinical validation of the product.

We thank Diario de Jerez and M. Valero for the space devoted to Myulab Innovation and Myukura.
